ElephantDesktop is a Windows and Mac application to manage your digital assets in ElephantDrive. With ElephantDesktop you can create and manage your scheduled backup, browse, upload, download, and share data to and from your Trunk. This application is ideal to be installed and run on your main computer at home or at the office where you want to have a scheduled backup running.
To use ElephantDesktop, download and install the ElephantDesktop. If you're on a high speed connection, the download will take about 12 seconds. The installation process will take about 30 seconds.
You start the application by double clicking on the ElephantDesktop icon on your desktop. Log in, and begin to fill your Trunk. You can do this one of two ways:
Run a Backup Category - You can ask ElephantDrive to to run a Backup category either by "folder" or by "type". For a "folder" Backup category, you select a specific folder on your computer (like "My Documents," or "important stuff," or "C://"), and ElephantDrive will make a backup of every file and folder that lives there. For a "type" Backup category, you choose one or more file types (like "doc," or "xls," or "mp3"), and ElephantDrive will make a backup of every file of that type it finds in the specified directory. We tried to make this process even easier by having a few of these category pre-defined and ready to run -- in only two clicks, you can get them started! Better yet, once created, these jobs will automatically run at regular intervals, so you'll always be up to date.
Upload a specific item - You can also move files and folders between your computer and ElephantDrive on an ad hoc basis using the Trunk Manager. Either drag-and-drop like any other Windows programs, or select the items you to move into your Trunk or back to your computer and click the upload or download buttons. That's it.
We've got tons of Advanced Options and features available for those of you who like a little more control, but if you want to set-it-and-forget-it or just use ElephantDrive for convenient storage and access, this is all you need to know.
